Tips on How to Set Up the Best Cleaning Schedule for Your Office

Posted on

Many factors come into play when determining how and when your office should be cleaned. Your business probably has various departments, and their rooms may have different cleaning needs. How do you determine when and how to schedule the cleaning without compromising on cleanliness or disrupting business affairs? Here are some useful and actionable tips on how you can allocate the various types of cleanings while being conscious of the costs as well.

Daily office cleaning

Different parts of the office would require regular cleaning. They include the lobby or reception area, kitchen, and rooms with high foot traffic. In fact, if your office is open Monday to Friday, it may be suitable to undertake daily cleaning. It may involve mopping the floors and dusting furniture. On the other hand, if you have quiet days when there is minimal movement in and out of the office, you can do cleaning after every two days. Consider the environment that your building is in as well. If it is dusty, you may want to wipe down surfaces every day to reduce allergens in the air.

Weekly cleaning

Window cleaning, mat or carpet vacuuming, hard floor scrubbing and wall washing don't have to be done every day. Hardwood floors should be scrubbed once a week to maintain their beautiful look. Window and wall cleaning can be done fortnightly, especially during the weekends or over a holiday when no workers are in the office to prevent distractions. Remember to wash the window treatments as well. Clean the carpets every two or three weeks, depending on the foot traffic in the office. Plan these so that you can make proper arrangements with the professional cleaners.

Electronic Equipment dusting

Today, it is uncommon to find an office without electronics and appliances. As you think about the floors and carpets, don't forget the computers, printers and other machines. They tend to accumulate dust over time, and this can affect their performance. Computers can overheat and even cause fires. Accumulated dust is not only hazardous, but also unsightly, and it can cause allergies in the office.  Dust and clean your electronic equipment once a week to maintain indoor air quality and preserve their performance. Use special cleaning solutions for the monitors and screens.

Waste disposal

No one wants an office with garbage that's not been disposed of for weeks. While paper waste is harmless, other forms of waste such as food can rot over time and produce bad odors in the office. Ensure that you have a proper waste collection system in place based on the kind and amount of waste generated in the business. If you only generate paper waste, you can have it collected every two weeks. However, if there is garbage that can decompose, set up a weekly waste disposal schedule.
